 Our Faith Is 2000 Years Old . . .

The UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST is rooted in the 2000 year old Christian faith.  We look to Holy Scripture for authority, yet we also encourage individuals to decide how to interpret scripture.  We practice two sacraments, baptism and holy communion.  We affirm historical Christian creeds as an expression of our faith, but not a litmus test.  We declare that Jesus Christ is the sole head of our church. 

 The UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST was formed in 1957 as a merger of four Christian denominations with a 500 year history.

We are a Progressive denomination committed to Jesus Christ, practicing social justice, affirming Christian unity, respecting other faith traditions and welcoming all.

 
Our congregation is young.  In January of 2009 we were granted full standing as a congregation of the United Church of Christ in the Potomac Association.  We have room for new people and new ideas.

 
We are committed to community service and social action.. We created the “Saving Soles” foot care ministry. We also prepare meals for the Thurman Brisbane Shelter and support the School Dressing Days.  Our members are actively concerned about peace, justice and environmental issues.
